The Online Wellness Association’s Seal of Approval is an indicator of authenticity between practitioner and client. This is part of OWA’s Mission Statement. OWA’s goal is to assure any potential client that visits the site of a wellness practitioner that this person is who they say they are, is certified to practice the services being offered and is “In good standing with OWA”. A simple click of this seal displayed on a practitioners website will instantly verify these requirements have been fulfilled to practice safely online. If the Seal of Approval does not click through to the OWA Website confirming the practitioners official certification, then they are not an OWA Professional Member endorsed by the Online Wellness Association.
When a potential client is in crises, or stressed, and begins a search for a legitimate wellness practitioner, they have no immediate way of knowing if the practitioner is real—that they are not a predator. The OWA Seal offers branding as a strategy for the wellness practitioner to lend prestige and credibility to their individual practices by bonding, through implication of the OWA Seal on their site, to the potential client. The potential client receives immediate visual verification of the legitimacy of the practitioner.
The OWA Seal is built with a security coding that does not allow the certification portion of the Seal to be duplicated. The security is based specifically on the sites approved member. The potential client ‘clicks’ on the Seal, the following message appears on member sites:
